There are abundant fishing opportunities on
the clean & clear 13,000 plus acre Dog Lake and numerous portage lakes, all
featuring rocky shoals, bays, islands, rivers, and inlets. Hot spots are
located on our map, and there are plenty of other hot spots for you to discover
on your own. Enjoy the fight and bring in your limit of Walleye, Northern Pike,
Lake Trout, Small Mouth Bass, Whitefish, and Jumbo Yellow Perch.

Dusk & dawn are ideal times for catching
this aggressive favorite. Effective lures: Jigs with minnows (crawlers or
leaches, with or without grub tails & spinners), 1/4oz, 1/8oz or floating
#7- #9, & #11 silver floating (some blue, orange), shad rap, bottom
bouncers, hot 'n tots, Wally divers, Mepps, slip sinkers, spinners and crank
baits. In the spring, use a vertical jig (or cast) into rocky shorelines, weed
lines, and shoals with live bait (such as minnows), as they are very hungry
after spawning. In the summer, use a jig, cast, troll, and drift. During the
mid-summer, try deeper structure fishing, sunken islands, and drop-offs. Jig,
troll, cast, & drift.

These fish are typically located in quiet,
vegetated waters. They are voracious and will often attack fish close to their
own size. Effective lures: Shad raps, husky jerks, leaders, spoons (red/white),
daredevils, Johnson silver spoon, Mepps (#3 silver, gold, or red-striped with
spinner or try Uncle Josh on 1 hook), Rapalas (#11s), large spinner baits,
crank baits, minnows (sucker), or try a bobber and chub with treble hook. In
spring, look for these fish in bays and the river mouths, and in summer they
can be found in weed beds and reefs. Cast or troll.
Fishing Lake Trout on Dog Lake in
Ontario
Lake Trout prefer deep, cold clear lakes (at
50 degrees Fahrenheit). Effective lures: Spinners, Swedish Pimples, various
spoons, jointed Rapalas, jigs (with a minnow), downriggers, Hot 'n tots, Mepps,
Little Cleo, crank baits, & lake trolls. In the spring, search shallow
areas; at other times, look try deeper fishing.
Small-mouth Bass
Located typically in clear rocky waters,
these fish are fierce fighters. Effective lures: Jigs, spinners, crank baits,
minnows, worm harness, husky jerks, shad raps, chug bug, and leeches. During
the late spring and early fall, these fish are in full action. Cast.... Your
approach matters.
Whitefish
Whitefish are found in deep cold waters.
Effective lures: Small jigs with minnows or crawlers, and small spoons.
Jumbo Yellow
Perch Found in clear waters with some
vegetation, these fish are often in a school). Effective lures: Small jigs (or
hook) with minnows or crawlers, and small spoons
Brook Trout (Speckled)
These fish are aggressive and found in cold,
clear streams and small lakes. Effective lures: Worms, leeches, mayflies,
minnows, spinners, and spoons. Torpedoes, boomers, rattlers, wigglers, Mister
Twisters, Smithwicks, & more can also be effective
Some Extra Tips
Casting: Into foliage or drop-offs,
river mouths.
Trolling: Front or back, whichever is
more productive. Try around 10' from shore. If using rapalas, the inside line
should be smaller (7 to 9) than the outside line (11 to 13). Find desired
color
Jigs: Tie directly onto line. When
vertical jigging, try 1' off bottom & jig rod.
Rods: Medium to light (6-7') for the
best action. Ultra lights can be terribly exciting. Use stiffer rods for those
nice size pike & lake trout. Open faced (or closed) reels with a drag
system (6-12 lb. test line). Be sure to bring an extra rod & reel.
Please remember these tips are merely
suggestions. If certain lures or approaches work great for you, stick with
those. Many other lures & approaches do produce great results; however, we
just can't list them all! This year try red hooks & camouflage line... Then
let us know!
Weekly boats & motors rental or daily
rentals are available, you can also rent a fish finder rent it by the day or
rent it by the week.

shore lunch.

This plan allows you to join us at Camp
Missanabie a wilderness Canadian cottage resort and rough it in comfort. Clean
and comfortable 1, 2, & 3 bedroom authentic log cabins with bathrooms &
kitchens, all equipped with everything including the linens, await at this
private, peaceful setting. On a remote horseshoe bay, deep in the heart of the
Canadian wilderness, our cabins are far enough apart to be private yet close
enough to be friendly.

Breathtaking views of Dog Lake from your
private screened porch, all designed for your comfort, safety, and success. You
will love the sweet and fresh, gentle breeze, along with the blazing sunsets.
Please bring your own towels (except for the
American Plan), soap, groceries, life jackets and fishing gear. A portable
depth finder is a plus, but rentals are available at the lodge.
American Plan Package This package
includes three meals with plenty of quality selections cooked the home-cooked
way. And who can beat "All you can eat" You will be served breakfast in the
true "breakfast bar" tradition with a selection of cereals and optional fruit
toppings, an egg dish (either scrambled or one of our tempting omelet/egg
casserole dishes), French toast, or non-stop pancakes. Nearly all our
breakfasts are served with ham, bacon, or sausage and toast or biscuits
(sometimes with gravy). We lighten up for lunch with a sandwich tray and soups
or burgers & fries, plus a selection of salads and chips (with the option
of shore lunch).
Dinner offers a delicious main entree,
vegetables, salads, fresh baked breads and desserts!
Our American Plan Package also includes
limited live bait, limited gas, cubed ice, and all housekeeping
accommodations.
Island Cabin Rental Package
If you are looking for the wilderness
experience and privacy, this package is for you! You will enjoy a 2 room log
cabin located on an island by itself, overlooking the main channel on beautiful
Dog Lake. Still within a couple minutes of the main camp, our Island Cabin is
complete with hand pump for water; kitchen with propane stove, refrigerator,
& lights; cooking & eating utensils; and linens for five beds. A
private dock is located in a sheltered cove behind the cabin. This package
includes one boat & motor for every two adults. You are invited to enjoy
the showers at the main lodge.
Outpost Cabin Rental Package
Do you want the experience of a fly-in
without the cost? The outpost cabin is located deep in Canadian Bush Country,
roughly 45 minutes by boat (with two well-defined hiking trails for access).
Fish the remote area on three different small lakes or take on the challenge of
two larger tributary lakes. The cabin is equipped with a propane refrigerator,
cooking stove, lights, and wood heating stove. Cooking utensils and beds
accommodate up to eight guests. Please bring your sleeping bags. Boats, motors,
and canoes are provided. This package accommodates a minimum of four and
maximum of eight guests.
Family Special
A mother, father, and up to four children can
enjoy this package between July & August. It's an affordable family
vacation in Canada! This package includes the use of a fully equipped authentic
log cabin for one week (for up to six people). One 14' or 16' deep v aluminum
boat with a 15 hp motor is included. Extra boat rentals are also available.
This is an excellent way to enjoy the members of your family and teach them the
art of casting or the thrill of that tug on the line! Hiking trails, a sand
beach, and wildlife are present in their own setting. Remember to bring your
own food and enjoy the beauty of Canada. No worries. No traffic. This plan is
perfect for just you and yours!
ATV/Fishing Package
Available June, July, & August
Requirements: Helmet, proof of ATV insurance,
registration & ownership, and driver's license.
This is a housekeeping package which includes
boat & motor (every two adults), 1 day ATV guide, and lake & ATV maps.
You provide your own food and ATVs.
Moose & Black Bear Hunts
Hunting at Camp Missanabie is truly a
sportsman's paradise. We limit the number of hunters per week and per season to
make every effort to ensure a quality hunt. Hunting areas are located on the
edge of the Chapleau Game Preserve. Guided hunts are available.

Hunting & Fishing Package
What could be better than hunting and fishing
all in the same trip and all at the same price? This package is truly a
sportsman's dream. Bear hunting at Camp Missanabie includes the use of a boat
and motor for two hunters in the party. Access to bait station by boat or ATV
are available. Includes accommodations; personal guides to baited area; baited
area assigned based on physical needs or weapon selection; daily bait; daily
boat gas; over 300 square kilometers of bear country on the edge of the
Chapleau Game Preserve; all hunts are fair chase hunts; assistance with
retrieval of downed animal; freezer service; and clean, screened accommodations
for process. Skinning is available at an additional charge.

We are always here to serve you. While we are
accessible by boat only, we will meet you at the dock in town for
transportation to the camp at no additional charge. Your scenic ride will take
approximately twenty minutes. Parking is available on our "in-town" property at
no additional charge. Note: Please remember to call us before you depart Wawa
so that we can calculate your time of arrival.
Directions Proceed north from Sault
Ste. Marie on Highway 17, (approximately 145 miles to Wawa. Take Highway 101
east approximately 40 miles to Highway 651. Proceed north approximately 34
miles to Missanabie. Cross the railroad tracks and turn right.
Our Canadian boat-in camp is family-owned and
operated with quality customer service, a family atmosphere, and warm
hospitality that will bring you back year after year. Our Canadian camp
features rustic log cottage rentals, with full amenities, in a remote northern
Ontario wilderness setting. Experience the serenity of a Canadian sunset, enjoy

waters. Visit the lodge store for licenses, necessities, and souvenirs. In the
